Hi everyone. Mom emailed me to remind me to update my blog. I am getting over a bad cold...but thank goodness not the full blown flu or anything. I have a presentation on chemical terrorism to give at the Northwest Medical Laboratory Symposium on Friday and have not gotten to practice my Power Point yet so I am a little nervous. I will practice this week for sure. Other than that, I am getting excited for Halloween. I am dressing up like Abby from the TV show NCIS...she is gothic a forensic scientist who is totally cool. I have been invited to a costume party in Olympia on the 24th and am going to dress up for work on that Friday too. Meet some friends on Halloween and get to dress up yet again! I love Halloween! I am including pictures of my costume last year and will update with pictures from this year. Also, I won the pumpking carving contest last year at work with lovely piece of art I call FrankinPumkin...He is adorned with all old scientific instrumenation parts...

FBI Shoot out

Hi. I wanted to share some photos from when I attended the FBI CEO Shootout 2009 earlier this month. It was totally awesome. I got to check out lots of the FBI toys that their field agents use and shoot a bunch of their guns. I had a blast! I hope you enjoy the show!

I also just had a birthday...it was fun. We went to the zoo and then out for food, drinks, and fun.

Ok. I am finally updating my blog again. I am at home recuperating from a bee sting. Yes, just a bee sting...well a painful one. I went to the doctor and am on orders to keep my foot up and stay off of it through today. I am on antibiotics for the bacterial infection, cellulitis, that came with the allergic reaction. Benedryl and ibuprofen are also my friends.
Oh yeah, and last week I found out that I am anemic and must now start taking three iron pills, at 325mg each, a day and then re-check my labs in about three months.

Ok hi everyone! I am at home sniffling with a cold and my sister, Tamra, emailed me a nudge and basically reminded me to update my blog site. I have only written in it once so far and am not very sure what to write now. Not much has changed...it is almost Spring...I am going to Atlanta, GA at the end of March for training at the CDC for a new method using the LC-MS/MS tandems system and am truly excited for the trip. I hope to be able to go to at least one FERN training this year too, but we'll see with the budget being what it is and all. The two classes I am interested are FERN funded, but you still need to be nominated, accepted, and then convince the State to allow the travel. Even though it is not their money...it is the fed's...they still control the purse strings and do not always want to let you do what you should be able to. Ahhh...our lovely government. So much I could say...yet so little to it really. I am thankful to be gainfully employeed, even if it is only on an anual basis that I find out if I still have a job. I hope this blog finds everyone well...as I mentioned in the begining of this short little blog...I have a cold right now and am at home sniffling.
